Late breaking abstracts deadline: 31st August 2024 (Midnight BST)

This aspect of the Congress is specifically designed to present the most relevant, exciting, unpublished (ideally but not essential) and recent news regarding every aspect of neuromuscular disorders. There are no topics for Late Breaking Abstracts. Please note this is not the place for ‘late submitted abstracts’ though. Six of the successfully selected abstracts will be presented as short 10-minute in-person oral presentations plus 5 minutes Q&A on the last day of the Congress (Saturday 12th October 2024) and others may be displayed as an in-person traditional printed poster at the venue and an ePoster in a designated area of the virtual platform.

Submission Guidelines

• Abstracts can be submitted via the link sent via email to all registered delegates on 1st August and in registration confirmation emails for registrations after this date. Submissions are accepted after 1st August 2024 and no later than 31st August 2024 (Midnight BST). No registration code is required.
• The presenting author must be registered for the congress in order to be able to submit an abstract. Only the presenting author can be the submitter of an abstract. An abstract submitted by someone who is not the presenter will be refused.
• Abstracts cannot be submitted by email, fax or hard copy.
• There is no fee to submit an abstract. A WMS Membership is not required to submit an abstract unless applying for a Fellowship which will reopen temporarily for late-breaking abstract submissions.
• To submit an abstract from a sponsoring, exhibiting or other industry organisation, the presenter’s registration must be from within those organisations global allocated registration ticket allowance.
• Within reason, there is no limit to the number of abstracts that can be submitted.
• Abstracts must be written in English.
• Maximum 250 words (excluding title and contact information on authors).
• There is a restriction of 20 co-authors for each abstract. If more co-authors have contributed, these should be summarily stated as Study Group and can later be displayed on the poster or appropriately be acknowledged during an oral.
• References and credits are not to be included in the abstract, nor subheadings (background, methods, results, etc specifically labelled) or keywords. Note that all subheadings in abstracts automatically will be removed by the Programme Committee.
• It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract; if accepted any errors in spelling, grammar, or scientific fact will be reproduced as typed by the author.
• The submitter will receive all correspondence concerning the abstract including acknowledgment of receipt of the submission and is responsible for informing co-authors of the status of the abstract.
• In cases where the abstract is NOT accepted, participants will be contacted promptly. Delegates will have the opportunity to attend the congress or cancel their registration in full.
• The Programme Committee reserves the right to shorten the abstract title to allow its publication in the Congress Programme and edit the content to remove acknowledgments and misspellings identified by the Programme Committee.
• To avoid repetition, it is WMS policy not to select late breaking abstracts from industry sponsors who also have a symposium on the same topic.
• Please refer here for dates regarding outcomes notifications and presentation upload dates. The submitters of accepted abstracts will be notified by email. There is lots of information on how to prepare and upload your presentation etc under the various pages of the 'Abstracts' menu above. 
• If you cannot meet these deadline please do not submit a late breaking abstract. 
• Accepted Late Breaking Abstracts will be displayed in an unindexed format as one long PDF file on the Neuromuscular Disorders Journal website in time for the WMS 2024 Congress.
