Types of Presentations

Oral Presenter (INV/TC/O/LBO)

All oral speakers will be presenting live, in-person at the Congress/Course venue. Sessions will also be streamed via the virtual platform for remote virtual delegates and on-demand viewing, so please consider this when preparing your slides and presentation. Questions will come from the in-person audience as well as via the platform and app. More information about this will be provided nearer the time. Our FAQ page also has lots of useful information. Please see the Programme for full schedule details nearer to the time of the Congress.

Please note that as a scientific Congress, we look forward to your presentations making specific reference to the evidence used to support your topic. This must include at least one slide that affords delegates the opportunity to see the references that you considered in your work. In addition, an important outcome of the Congress is the ability for delegates to apply the information you present in their local settings. Accordingly, we ask that your presentation specifically address any barriers to implementation that you experienced or that you foresee. In addition to being reflective of best practices, these elements are a requirement of our educational accreditation and are subject to external review/approval.

Evidenced-based Approach

Speakers must supply best evidence for their assertions.

Publication Consent

All delegates will be asked during the registration process if they are happy for the recorded presentation/poster/video, and any related recorded Q&A session, to be available on the virtual platform for up to three months post-event and potentially on the WMS website and social media for members to access thereafter. If you don't consent, your presentation recording, and related recorded Q&A session, will be available for viewing during the Congress and then removed within approximately 2 weeks post-Congress.

If this consent was not recorded from you at the point of registration, we will be in touch in due course to request the information, so please complete the form when received by email.

Short Oral Presenter (P)

Short Oral Presentations are an exciting opportunity for those selected, to present to an informal audience during the Poster Sessions. You will be notified in your Abstract Notification Email if you are selected for one of these.

We will have three smaller designated presentation theatres close to the poster area. Each one will have a large digital screen to display the presentation, a lectern and a microphone. The audience will gather to listen to the presentations for ~30 minutes of each overall Poster Session. All Poster Presenters for that session will stand by their traditional printed poster for the first part of the session to discuss their poster with attendees and then the last ~30 minutes will be Short Oral Presentation sessions in the theatres, plus traditional poster viewing for those who don't wish to attend the theatre sessions.

A designated Moderator/s will moderate the Short Oral Presentation sessions. Each abstract will be presented with a slide presentation of five minutes, where three minutes are designated for your presentation and two minutes for discussion with the chairperson and audience. There are several presentations per session. You are requested to be present at your platform screen during the entire Short Oral session.

In addition to the scheduled sessions, you will be able to show your presentation to your colleagues throughout the entire Congress at the traditional poster boards, and designated ePoster screens as well as using the Congress app and platform.

In-Person Poster Presenter (P/LBP)

All posters (regardless of whether the presenter is attending in-person or virtually) will be available digitally via the ePoster boards onsite, Congress app and the virtual platform.

Therefore, all poster presenters should upload a digital poster and video recording for their poster/s.

Virtual Poster Presenter (VP/LBVP)

Please remember that all posters will be available digitally via the ePoster boards onsite, Congress app and virtual platform.

Poster Highlights Presenter (P)

The Prize Committee will review the ePoster presentations prior to the virtual congress and the Organisers will notify the successful presenters approximately two weeks before the Congress. The Poster Highlights session is on Saturday 12th October 2024. There will be six 10-minute presentations each with a five-minute Q&A. The presenter should prepare three to five PowerPoint slides (including introduction, main findings, main messages, acknowledgement) to show during session and must present data as indicated on the original poster.

Interesting Cases Presenter (ICP)

The Interesting Cases Discussions scheduled for Friday 11th October will feature selected interesting solved and unsolved neuromuscular cases. Following a dedicated Interesting Cases submission process, the submitting author for each of the chosen cases will be invited to present his or her case with the hope that further discussions about cases will continue during the congress. There will be five five minute presentations each with a five minute Q&A. The presenter should prepare a maximum of five PowerPoint slides, ideally with accompanying histology and/or ultrastructural/EM images to support the case presentation.
